How your details are handled
What gets collected on this site, why it is held and the choices that stay with you throughout.
AlexMedic does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
Information collected
Details reach this site in two ways. Some are handed over on purpose, such as the name, email address, phone number and password entered on the sign up form, or the name, email address, subject and message left on the contact form. Others are gathered by the site itself as pages load.
- Contact details submitted through a form on this site.
- Account credentials created during sign up, with passwords stored in a scrambled form.
- Messages, questions and any plan or medicine notes written into a form field.
- Technical records such as browser type, device type, approximate region and the pages opened.
- Consent selections, including which text message boxes were ticked and when.
Sensitive medical records are never requested. Any health detail mentioned in a message is treated as part of that message and nothing more.
How the information is used
Everything collected is put toward answering the request that brought you here and keeping the site working as intended.
- Replying to a question sent through the contact form.
- Creating and maintaining an account, including password resets.
- Sending service messages about a submitted request where that consent was given.
- Sending promotional messages about plan options where that separate consent was given.
- Improving how pages are written, ordered and explained.
- Protecting the site against misuse, fraud and unauthorised access.
Text message consent
Text message permissions are collected separately from one another on the sign up form and neither is required to create an account or read anything on this site. Service messages relate to a request already submitted. Marketing messages describe plan options and offers.
Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply. Replying STOP to any message ends that stream of messages, and replying HELP returns support information. Withdrawing consent does not remove access to the pages on this site.
Cookies and site records
Small files are stored by the browser so that a session stays signed in and preferences survive a page change. Aggregated records of which pages are opened help show which explanations need rewriting.
Browser settings can block or clear these files at any time. Doing so may mean signing in again more often, and some parts of the site may behave less smoothly, but the reading itself stays available.
Sharing with others
Information is shared only where it is needed to run the site or where the law requires it.
- Service providers that host the site, deliver email or send text messages, each bound to use the data only for that task.
- Legal or regulatory bodies where a valid request obliges disclosure.
- A successor entity if ownership of the site changes, under the same commitments set out here.
No other disclosure takes place, and no marketing list is built from your details for anyone else to use.
Keeping information safe
Access is limited to what is needed to operate the site. Transfers are encrypted, passwords are stored in scrambled form and account access is reviewed against ordinary security practice.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so absolute safety cannot be promised. Anything unusual noticed on an account should be reported using the contact details below.
How long details are kept
Account details stay in place while the account remains open. Form messages are kept long enough to answer the question and to keep a record of what was asked. Consent records are held for as long as the permission is relied upon.
Once none of those reasons apply, the details are deleted or stripped of anything that identifies a person.
Your choices
Several controls sit with you and can be used at any time by writing in with the details below.
- Ask for a copy of the information held about you.
- Ask for a correction where something recorded is wrong.
- Ask for deletion of an account and the details tied to it.
- Withdraw a text message permission without affecting the rest of the account.
- Object to a particular use of the information described here.
Other sites
Some pages point to material published elsewhere, including official Medicare resources and insurer documents. Those sites run under their own privacy terms, and this policy stops at the moment a link is followed.
Younger visitors
This site is built for adults reviewing Medicare coverage and is not directed at children. Details are not knowingly collected from anyone under the age set by law, and anything received in error is removed once found.
Changes to this policy
This policy is revisited as the site changes and as the rules around coverage information change. When it is updated the date at the top of the page is moved forward, and the version shown here is always the one in force.
